Hi there---> My Printer is printing fine , I have it setup via usb (don't want wireless) scan  and copies fine as well. The issue I am experiencing is the Windows 10 HP Smart app that provides management for this. Also known as EWS  This app is showing me no consistancy and i've completely reinstalled the software and printer.  What I mean by consistency is I cannot 'sign in' in the  top right-it doesn't even respond to begin an auth process.  I see all the tiles related to network  summary administrator printer information cartridge  etc, but for some of them like administrator I get a reply of 

System Error

Network connection error. Check network and try again.
 
So between this and the weird non responsive 'Sign In' I'm not sure what is going on blocking this behind the scenes . I  have for  example checked windows firewall and  'allow' is  listed. 
 
Any thoughts??

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

 

For EWS, believed that you must be on the network (either WIreless or Ethernet), USB would not allow you to connect, hence the error message you're seeing.

Network connection error. Check network and try again
