I have a Microsoft Surface Pro laptop with an ARM processor running Windows 10. The only driver that is listed for my 7740 printer is "Microsoft IPP Class Driver". I have tried to install the driver listed on support.HP.com but it fails to install. I get an error message that the driver is incompatible, and I need a 64bit version. I cannot print with custom size paper because I do not have a compatible driver.

Hi @bertieferris,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are getting an error message driver is incompatible while setting up your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
The printer drivers are available for Windows 10 & 11 as well. So I would suggest a Root uninstall and reinstallation of the software:
Make sure your Windows OS is up to date: Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. If updates are available, install them.
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
Otherwise, you can use the HP Smart App: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I followed your procedure through "Download and Install Software". On the HP Software and Driver window for my Officejet Pro 7740 printer, I had to change the "Detected Operating System" from Windows(32-bit) to Windows(64-bit). Then I selected "Installation Software and Full/Basic Driver" and downloaded and installed file "Full_Webpack-40. 16. 1234_1-OJ7740_Full_Webpack.exe". Received error message "Install Failed. The software required for your device could not be installed". Further details:
Installation Error
Call to DriverPackageinstall returned error -536870347 for package C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 series\DriverStore\ YetiV4\hpygid20_v4.inf: The 32-bit version DIFxAPI does not work on Win64 systems. A 64-bit version of DIFxAPI is required.
Why is the system detecting the operating system as Windows (32-bit)? I changed to Windows(64-bit) but downloaded driver is 32-bit. Help!
