I cannot identify what user id and password are needed for the SMART (big oxymoron) app directly and to access my printer settings indirectly.  I have tried admin admin, the items I KNOW to be my windows credentials, reset my windows credentials anyway, forced windows passwords from the command line, uninstalled, reinstalled and logged in for support questions and downloads 8,298 times.

What password is used with what user name inside the SMART app to change printer settings.  Is it ..... in the printer? .....embedded in the software?.....

This issue is years old and not so good on clear responses HP....jeez, come on guys...

@JDPS

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, I can't yet confirm or deny validity of your supplied solution as I found an alternative.

The alternative is to use a browser and go to the embedded control interface directly at the printer's ip address. The catch is that I may have gotten the printer reset in the many attempts at doing so that preceded me trying the IP address.

I'm glad to hear that and you're most welcome. Do get back to us in the future for further assistance.
