My printer won't stop printing garbage when I connect or leave my tablet/laptop connected (to the point where it's wasted reams and reams of paper). I tried uninstalling everything but now that I'm reinstalling the software, the HP Smart app looks like it's installing but won't open. When I click on it, I see a very fast flicker as if it opens and closes (or is possible being blocked), but I cannot get my printer software reloaded because the HP Smart app won't load. I can't even manually install the software. I'm so frustrated. I don't even know where to call HP to arrange to pay for support.

Hi @mlb283,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Restart Devices:
- Restart your tablet/laptop and your printer. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve software issues.
Check for Software Updates:
- Ensure your operating system and HP Smart app are updated to the latest versions.
Reinstall HP Smart App:
- Uninstall the HP Smart app completely. You might need to use an uninstaller tool to remove any remaining files.
- After uninstalling, restart your device.
- Download the latest version of the HP Smart app from the official HP website or your device's app store and try reinstalling it.
Check for Conflicting Software:
- Disable or uninstall any other printer management software that might be conflicting with HP Smart.
Clear Cache and Data:
- If you're using a mobile device, go to your device's settings and clear the cache and data for the HP Smart app.
Check Printer Connections:
- Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network. If it's a networked printer, check if it is properly connected to your WiFi or Ethernet network.
Manually Install Printer Software:
- You can manually install the printer drivers and software from the HP support website. Go to HP Support and enter your printer model to find the appropriate drivers and software.
Check for Blocked Applications:
- Ensure that no security software (like antivirus or firewall) is blocking the HP Smart app. You may need to add it to your list of allowed applications.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
