Hi @ecophage

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry you’re running into this problem where the HP App won’t respond when you try to print. Since the printer works fine with test pages, the issue is most likely tied to the app or Windows print environment.

Let’s go through a clear set of steps to get the HP App working smoothly again:

Restart Print Spooler Service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate Print Spooler, right‑click, and select Restart.
  • This refreshes the Windows print pipeline.

Clear Pending Print Jobs

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right‑click your HP printer and select See what’s printing.
  • Cancel all pending jobs, then try printing again.

Update HP App

  • Open the Microsoft Store on your PC.
  • Search for HP App and check for updates.
  • Install the latest version to ensure compatibility with Windows 10/11.

Reinstall HP App

  • If updating doesn’t help, uninstall the HP App from Settings > Apps.
  • Restart your PC.
  • Download and reinstall the HP App from the Microsoft Store:
    HP App – Microsoft Store

Run HP Diagnose & Fix Tool

Test with a Simple File

  • Try printing a text file from Notepad.
  • If this works, then test with a PDF or Word file to confirm the app is functioning correctly.

By refreshing the spooler, updating or reinstalling the HP App, and using the Diagnose & Fix tool, you should be able to restore normal printing.
