HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

the printer prints from my phone but will not print from my computer. It goes to the print query and then nothing happens till it times out, then says either their is a error or the printer is offline.

Hi @dumas88

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s frustrating, especially since it prints fine from your phone. Let’s go through some structured troubleshooting steps to get your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e printing from your laptop.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Check Printer Connection

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.
  • If using a USB cable, try a different port or cable.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart both your printer and laptop.
  • Power cycle your router if using a wireless connection.

3. Set Printer as Default

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click on your printer and select Set as Default.

4. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download HP’s troubleshooting tool here.
  • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit HP’s official support page here and download the latest drivers.
  • Install them and restart your laptop.

6. Check Printer Status

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and ensure it’s not set to offline.

7. Disable VPN (if applicable)

  • If you’re using a VPN, disconnect it before printing.

8. Reinstall Printer

  • Remove the printer from Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Restart your laptop and reinstall the printer using HP Smart.

9. Update Windows

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
