Hi @tankfab,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy Photo 7158 is stuck on the white HP screen and remains unresponsive, here are a few additional steps you could try to resolve the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it’s on.
  • Wait 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet instead of a power strip (this helps in case of power fluctuation issues).
  • Power the printer on and check if it progresses past the white HP screen.

Update the Firmware via USB Recovery (if possible):

  • Sometimes, firmware corruption can cause the printer to freeze. If you have access to the HP Support website and can download the latest firmware, it might be possible to update the printer via USB recovery mode.
  • You’ll need to download the firmware update onto a USB drive, then follow HP’s instructions to perform the update.

Check for Connection Issues:

  • Try connecting the printer to the computer with a USB cable. See if the computer recognizes the printer when connected by USB, which may help bypass the screen issue momentarily and allow for troubleshooting or firmware updating.

Printer Reset Sequence (if applicable):

  • Some HP models have a hidden reset sequence. Try holding down certain buttons while powering the printer on (like the power and cancel buttons together, or power and resume).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
