I inherited this from my grandmother. It was set up and working perfectly but then sat for almost 2 years. I changed the ink to HP 910 because the old ink was expired. Now it says “use set up cartridge” and when I put the old cartridges back in it says “defective cartridge. Contact HP”

Hi @1Daria12,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like there might be a compatibility issue or a problem with the cartridges. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8025 printer.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve temporary glitches.
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the HP 910 cartridges you purchased are compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025. Double-check the printer's user manual or the HP website to confirm the correct cartridge model for your printer.
- Remove and Reinstall Cartridges: Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door. Remove all the cartridges, including the old ones and the new setup cartridges. Check for any protective tapes or seals on the new cartridges and remove them if present. Then, reinsert the cartridges firmly back into their respective slots.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the cartridge contacts can get dirty or dusty, causing communication issues. Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.
- Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Reset Printer: If the issue persists, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I tried all of those steps and unfortunately now this is what the screen is displaying with the SETUP cartridge in the machine, but the warrantee is expired. When I put the new cartridge in it says please put in SETUP cartridge, still. Please advise
