…sorry I posted my message in error before I’d completed . I’ve attempted to use the 4 touch of the ‘return’ icon to get me to the Set Up screen without success. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi @TQ7,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you are experiencing issues with no display. I'd like to help!
- Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
- Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove the USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, and press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
- Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
The next thing, I would suggest here is to install the latest firmware update for this printer, using this link here
Once the Firmware Update has been completed check the display on your printer to ensure that it is functioning properly.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

Thanks for your assistance. I have followed your hard reset instruction and using the Direct Download Firmware From Printer Option can confirm the printer Firmware already ‘has the most recent updates installed’.
After which - Current Printer Status
1. Switching on: Printer didn’t respond to being switched on. Control Panel / Paper- feed flap remained closed and screen blank.
2. After I physically fully opened the Control Panel / Paper feed flap, the printer commenced its ‘warm up’ cycle, during which the expected touch screen icons were visible and activated on the Control Panel screen.
3. On completing its warm up cycle the Control Panel / Paper-feed flap returned to the open position, the screen returned to being blank.
4. I again physically fully opened the Control Panel - the expected menu and touch screen icons stayed on and I was able to print Printer Status Report and Align Printer successfully.
5. However, after numerous times of closing and unplugging the printer from the wall socket and waiting 5 minutes before switching it back on, the printer continues to revert to its previous, no response, blank screen position and will only respond if I follow the above 1 to 4 processes……which isn’t what we had hoped for.
I’d be very grateful for any further assistance or advice you or any of ‘team’ are able to propose to rectify the issue. Thanks once again.
