The printer worked for over a year until this morning. Now it isn't recognized by my chromebook and the error says " printer not available".  I'm unable to connect to it, and it is not found when I attempt to set it up. It is WIFI connected and "on".

@Terry561, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print wirelessly from your Chromebook.

  • Make sure the printer and the Chromebook are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router to connect the printer to your wireless network.

  1. Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.

  2. Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.

  3. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button  for at least 5 seconds or until the light starts blinking. For Tango printers, press and hold the Wireless and Power buttons on the rear of the printer until the blue bar flashes.

  4. Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button  on the router until the connection process begins.

  5. Wait for the light on the printer to stop blinking.

  6. On the Chromebook, click the clock in the bottom right corner, and then click the Settings icon .

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and then click Advanced.

  8. Under Printing, click Printers > Add Printer.

    • If your printer displays, select it, and then click Add.

    • If your printer does not display, click Add Manually, and then follow the instructions. For more information, go to Chromebook Help - Set up your printer (in English).
