Hi @phlyphishr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

  1. First, restart the printer. Turn it off, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 1-2 minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on to see if the issue persists.

  2. Next, check for stuck scanning jobs. If the printer is stuck in a scan loop, restart your computer and check the HP Smart App or Printers & Scanners settings to clear any pending scan jobs.

  3. You can also perform a hard reset. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds while the printer is on, then release the button and let the printer restart.

  4. Try updating the printer firmware by going to HP Support and downloading the latest firmware for your HP Envy 5661.

  5. Check the scanner sensor by opening the scanner lid and gently cleaning the scanner glass and the white strip on the underside of the lid with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner. Make sure there's no dust, smudges, or stuck objects triggering the sensor.

  6. As a last resort, you can do a factory reset. Go to Settings, then Printer Maintenance, and select Restore Factory Defaults on your printer’s menu. This will reset all settings but may fix the issue.

Let me know how it goes! 😊
