Hi @scheng60,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

t sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 6578 might be asking for setup cartridges because it’s either not recognizing the existing cartridges or has encountered an issue that’s preventing it from using them properly. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you’re using are compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, non-HP cartridges or refilled cartridges can cause issues.

Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the cartridges and then reinstall them. Make sure they click into place securely.

Clean Cartridge Contacts: Gently clean the copper contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth. Be careful not to damage the contacts.

Reset Printer: Try performing a reset on your printer. Turn it off, unplug it from the power source for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Firmware Update: Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues.

Try a Different Set of Cartridges: If possible, try using a different set of cartridges to see if the issue persists.

Printer Diagnostics: Run any diagnostic tools or troubleshooting utilities available on the printer’s control panel or through the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
