I realize this printer may no longer be supported by HP. That said, I’d still like to update to the latest firmware available. How do you update the firmware for this printer?? Thank you!

Although I can see the printer in HP smart, I can’t seem to locate the appropriate advanced tab to update the firmware. I can, however, see the firmware version currently running on the printer. Could you tell me, is this the latest firmware?

Also, is it possible to update the firmware from an iOS device? Or using only the printer itself—either through the Wi-Fi network, or using a flash memory device, etc?
thank you!

From the Printer - if supported:
When connected to the internet, many HP printers support updating the firmware directly from the printer control panel.
Make sure the printer is connected to a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection.
NOTE:USB connections will not work.
On the control panel, open the Setup, Service, or Settings menu.
Select Preferences, Printer Maintenance, or Tools.
Select Web Services, Printer Update, or LaserJet Update.
If prompted, follow the instructions to turn on Web Services.
Select Check for Updates or a similar option.
CAUTION:Do not turn off the printer during a firmware update. This can permanently damage your printer.

From HP Smart - if supported, on your older printer, you might be able to update the firmware via the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Use the HP Smart app to check for and install firmware updates.
Open the HP Smart app, and then create an account or sign in. If you do not have HP Smart, download it from 123.hp.com or your app store.
If you are setting up HP Smart for the first time, you must create or sign in to an HP account to access all printer functions.
On the app home screen, select your printer name or image.
Under Advanced, select Advanced Settings or Printer Home Page (EWS).
Select Tools or Web Services.
Click Printer Updates or Product Update, and then click Check Now. Any firmware updates automatically download and install onto your printer.
Do not turn off the printer during a firmware update. This can permanently damage your printer.
================================================================================
If the printer is on the network,
If you can open the Embedded Web Server using your browser and the printer IP address,
You might be able to update the firmware using EWS.
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Tools
Select Tools or Web Services.
Click Printer Updates or Product Update, and then click Check Now. Any firmware updates automatically download and install onto your printer.
CAUTION:Do not turn off the printer during a firmware update. This can permanently damage your printer.

Printer Firmware - if you can use EWS is found in Tools > Printer Information
Example
Use Embedded Web Server (EWS) to find your printer's Firmware version
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Tools > Printer Information > Firmware Version
Example - EWS - Extract the firmware version from the full firmware version information.
Firmware Version | MANHHIPP1N001.2010A.00 |
I can't get to the manuals right now - wait and / or clear your browser cache if you are also having trouble.
The various links provided earlier should open as intended...
