Hi @TadMad,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check Printer Connection

  • USB Connection: Ensure the USB cable is properly connected to both the printer and the laptop.
  • Wireless Network: Ensure the printer is connected to the same wireless network as your laptop. You can check the network settings on the printer’s control panel.

2. Install Latest Drivers and Software

3. Restart Devices

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your laptop.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

4. Check Print Status

  • On your laptop, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Find your HP Envy 4520, right-click, and select See what's printing.
  • Cancel any print jobs that might be stuck.

5. Set HP Envy 4520 as Default Printer

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on HP Envy 4520 and select Set as default printer.

6. Update BIOS and Firmware

  • Ensure your laptop's BIOS and your printer’s firmware are updated to the latest versions.

7. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix any issues automatically.

8. Reinstall Printer

  • Remove the printer from Devices and Printers.
  • Uninstall the HP printer software through Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • Restart your laptop.
  • Reinstall the printer software downloaded from the HP Support website.

I hope this helps.
