I just can't get a straight answer from HP,  

 

I DO NOT WANT the HP app on my laptop.  However, I am unable to use the printer without creating an HP cloud account and being FORCED to use the app,  The printer is installed, there are no issues, except that the FREAKIN APP keeps coming between myself and direct use of the printer.  Can someone please explain what the ***bleep*** is playing at?  Why can I NOT use the printer without this app?!

HP Smart is not mandatory.

The application can be uninstalled.

 

Instead, you may use the Full Feature Software - no "app".

 

Full Feature Software (Full Driver)

HP ENVY 5000 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories 

OR

Easy Start Method (Guided setup and installs printer software - ask it to load the "Full Driver")

HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software 

 

Uninstall HP Smart

 

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Scroll down (or search) for HP Smart > Click on it > Uninstall

After the application is uninstalled, Restart the computer and log in
