HI @Ajowa,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Download the Latest Driver:
- Ensure you have the latest driver downloaded from the HP Support Website. Navigate to the Drivers & Downloads section, find the correct driver for the HP ENVY Photo 7858 and your macOS version, and download it.
2. Install the Driver:
- Open the downloaded driver file to begin the installation process.
- Follow the on-screen prompts until you reach the point where the installation halts with the unlabeled box.
3. Handle the Unlabeled Box:
- Since the box is unlabeled, it might be asking for important information such as an email address or a user name. Try entering your macOS credentials (username and password), an email address, or some general information as prompted in other installation steps.
- You can try pressing the Tab key if the cursor is in the box or move forward by clicking Next or Continue while experimenting with typical input fields like an email address or a simple identifier like "Home" or "Business."
4. Check macOS Security Settings:
- macOS might be blocking the installer from running. Check System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General to see if there's a message about allowing the HP software to run, and click Allow if necessary.
- Ensure you are connected to the internet during the installation process for any additional components.
5. Restarting the Installation:
- If you can’t move past the unlabeled box, close the installer, restart your Mac and begin the installation process again.
6. Using HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store. This app can handle the setup process and might avoid the issue you are experiencing with the standalone driver installer.
Steps with HP Smart App:
- Open the Mac App Store.
- Search for HP Smart and download/install it.
- Open the HP Smart app and follow the setup instructions to add your HP ENVY Photo 7858.
I hope this helps.
