Hi @DMitchell29,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When connecting your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw to a new router and network, follow these steps.

Reconnect Your Printer to the New Network

Restart the Printer and Router

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Restart your router by unplugging it, waiting for about 10 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
  • After the router has fully restarted, plug your printer back in and turn it on.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer

  • On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
  • Go to Network Settings and then select Restore Network Settings.
  • Confirm if prompted.

Reconnect the Printer to the Network

  • On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
  • Go to Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to select your new network and enter the Wi-Fi password.

Check IP Address Configuration

  • On the printer control panel, print a Network Configuration Page.
  • Ensure the IP address assigned to the printer is within the range of your new router's IP addresses.
  • If needed, manually set a static IP address for your printer within the router's settings.

Using the HP Smart App

  1. Install HP Smart App
    • Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
    • Open the app and click on the + sign to add a new printer.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the new network.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Disable MAC Address Filtering

  • Ensure that your router's MAC address filtering is disabled or that your printer's MAC address is added to the allowed list.

Check Router Settings

  • Verify that your router is broadcasting the SSID (network name).
  • Ensure that the network is not set to hide the SSID.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
