HP Recommended

For my HP DeskJet 2742E I recently discontinued my instant subscription and bought cartridges from my local store. Once I installed them amazingly my printer drivers stopped working. I contacted HP and they said they could update my drivers for around $250. I don’t understand why I can’t just use my own cartridges and a cable without an up charge

The number you called was not HP. There are many pirate sites out there that wait for people to click a site they think is HP and then take advantage of them telling them they need to spend money on drivers or that your machine has a virus, etc, etc, etc. All to make you fearful and agree to pay them. Depending on the age of your printer, either you install by going to 123.hp.com or go to support.hp.com and type in your model number and download the drivers from there.
