I have a Mac Air with Sequoia with 15.5 operating system. How do I install the printer?

I am trying to reinstall my printer, but HP does not support Sequioia 15.5 operating system.   How do I find it?

Thanks for explaining that—macOS Sequoia 15.5 is still relatively new, and HP hasn’t released dedicated drivers for it yet. But the good news is: you can still install and use your HP ENVY Pro 6458 using Apple’s built-in AirPrint support, which works without needing HP-specific drivers.

Here’s how to get it working:

 

✅ 1. Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi

• On the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button + Power button for 5 seconds until the blue bar flashes.
• Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
• The blue bar will stop flashing once connected.

If your router doesn’t support WPS, use the HP Smart app on your phone to connect the printer to Wi-Fi.

🧰 2. Add the Printer Using AirPrint

1. On your Mac, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
2. Click the Add Printer (+) button.
3. Select your HP ENVY Pro 6458 from the list.
4. Make sure AirPrint is selected as the driver.
5. Click Add.

🔄 3. Update macOS and Printer Firmware

• On your Mac, go to System Settings > Software Update and install any pending updates.
• Visit the HP ENVY Pro 6458 firmware page to check for printer firmware updates.

🧠 4. Use HP Smart App (Optional)

• The HP Smart app may not fully support Sequoia yet, but you can still print and scan using macOS’s built-in tools.
• For scanning:
  Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners > [Your Printer] > Open Scanner.

If the printer doesn’t show up, try restarting your Mac and printer, or add it manually using its IP address.
