Hi @Tillievie,

Thank you for your response

It sounds like you're dealing with a pretty frustrating issue. Since you've already tried the typical troubleshooting steps and still have that persistent "finish updating the printer" message, let's dig a little deeper with some alternate solutions:

Check Printer's Connection to the Network (Wi-Fi)

Sometimes, the printer needs a stable internet connection to complete the installation or update its firmware.

Recheck Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network. On the printer screen, go to the Wireless or Network Settings and confirm that it's connected to the right network.

Reset Network Settings: If it still shows the same message, you can try resetting the network settings on the printer. Go to Settings > Network > Restore Network Defaults and reconnect it to Wi-Fi.

Disconnect and Reconnect the Printer Power

A simple reset by unplugging the printer from the power source for about 60 seconds and then plugging it back in might help clear out any residual setup messages.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

@Tillievie, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To resolve the issue of the HP Envy 6132e All-in-One Printer displaying a message to finish the installation of the software, follow these steps:

Complete the Setup:

  • Ensure that all the setup steps have been completed. Sometimes, the printer might require additional steps such as connecting to HP's web services or updating the printer's firmware.

HP Smart App:

  • If you are using the HP Smart App, open it and check if there are any prompts for setting up the printer. Complete any outstanding steps that might be part of the printer installation.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current drivers and software related to the printer. Then, download and reinstall the latest drivers and software for your printer model from the HP Support website.

Software Updates:

  • Check for any available updates for both your printer's firmware and the printer software on your computer. Updates can often resolve setup issues.

Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset on the printer, which will return it to its original settings. This option typically resolves any lingering setup messages:
    1. On the printer control panel, go to the Settings menu.
    2. Navigate to Printer Maintenance or Tools.
    3. Select Restore to Default or Restore Factory Settings.
    4. Follow any prompts to complete the reset.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you but this hasn't worked. i have tried several times to complete the setup. I keep getting a screen which has three faint blocks on it which show waves as though they are trying to say something relevant but nothing appears. I have checked software updates which seem to be okay. I have tried to reinstall the drivers and deleted the printer and reinstated it. I cannot do a factory reset as it is the printer control panel which shows the "finish updating the printer message" and which I cannot remove. Any other suggestions please? Is it at all relevant that I have two identical Envy printers at two different addresses? The earlier one had no problems in setting up. Thank you

Thank you for this most recent message.

You suggest "On the printer screen, go to the Wireless or Network Settings". The problem is that I cannot get anything other than the "complete setup" message

I have reset Network settings on the computer. The blue light is on and the printer is printing from the computer so I don't think it is that.

I have disconnected and reconnected the printer a few times.

Still the same message! So the problem is not resolved. Do you have any other suggestions, please?
