HP Recommended

I have an 8028e OfficeJer Pro for which I had the instant Ink Program.  I cancelled said program in January this year and  now I cannot use my printer.  I am trying to install generic cartridges since I do not use it with frequency but HP has locked it.  I would like to disable the printer's firmware, bur apparently HP does not let me either.  How can I handle this.  I am not a geek in technology
