Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Attempting to install a new printer which is my old HP3940 printer I get to the point of windows updating the list of old printers but my printer is not included in that list so I cannot proceed. How can I overcome this difficulty, if that is possible?

* Click on YES button  to say thanks, 

* Click on the button Accepted Solution if the question is answered.

I was testing different ways of installing the printer but I cannot be sure that a driver was downloaded from the website I was advised to connect as no such driver was available for HP3920/40. However using the HP print and scan doctor, after it downloaded an update and run, it detected the said printer as installed. The problem was solved, but I am not sure in which way.

I do owe thanks to FerRX for his suggestion which might have been instrumental in getting the problem solved.

I am truly grateful for your advice as the actions I took were after your advice and following the recommended link had done the trick even though at the time I had not realised it. The printer works fine thanks to your suggestion. Grazie mille.
