HP OfficeJet 8014e All-in-One Printer

As mentioned on the official HP website, users have the option to include or decline the HP+ model during setup.

In my case, I do not wish to activate the HP+ offer. However, to use the standard model (i.e., HP without HP+), it seems I must go through a non-standard installation process and avoid using the HP Smart app, which automatically includes the optional HP+ without giving a clear way to decline it.

Based on this situation, my question is as follows:

  • Is it possible to configure my HP OfficeJet 8014e All-in-One Printer without activating HP+ — either with or without using the HP Smart app?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Hey @252llll,

Thank you for your response

Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly

Reset the Printer and Set It Up Offline (to avoid HP+)

Perform a full factory reset on the printer:

Refer this guide to perform the reset: Restore factory defaults on your HP printer | HP® Support

Install the printer using basic drivers from HP’s support site instead of HP Smart:

Visit:Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support

Search for your model (HP OfficeJet 8014e) and download basic drivers/software without HP Smart.

Skip HP Smart and Easy Start entirely—install using Windows’ “Add a Printer” or macOS’s “Printers & Scanners” panel.

HP printer setup (Windows built-in driver) | HP® Support

HP printer setup (Mac built-in driver) | HP® Support

Option 2: Use HP Smart but Create a New HP Account Without HP+

If the printer is already locked into HP+, there’s likely no going back.

In some cases, creating a new HP account and redoing the setup (possibly with a different email and device) lets you bypass forced HP+ prompts.

But again, if you’re online during setup, it’s very likely that HP+ gets enforced automatically.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

@252llll, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

HP customers have options when purchasing HP printers. There are functionally equivalent HP printers available without HP+.

For HP OfficeJet Pro 8000e and 9000e Series printers, DeskJet 2700e and 4100e Series, and ENVY 6000e and 6400e Series, a customer can choose to skip HP+ activation during printer setup.

Skipping HP+ activation at set up means that a customer cannot access HP+ benefits.

Thank you, Garp, for your answer.

To set up the HP OfficeJet 8014e All-in-One Printer, I followed the on-screen steps to decline the HP+ offer.

Everything goes well at this point.

However, after completing the setup this way, I encounter an error when trying to print :

- The printer displays: "Incomplete configuration."

To resolve this issue, I must use either the HP Smart or HP Easy Start software to complete the setup.

The main issue is as followed :

- Neither software provides a clear option to decline the HP+ offer, and both appear to enforce HP+ by default, even when I choose not to use it.

Thank you in advance for your help.
