Product: PHOTOSMART SERIES C5200
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Sparsely used printer installed in 2008 on  an iMac desktop  which had a built-in CD disc slot. Am changing up to a new iMac which does not have  disc slot. How do I install the existing printer on new iMac please? HP seem uninterested in anything over 10  years old.

@Mucker02, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Due to the printer's age, there is no printer driver available to work on macOS 10.11 on the HP Support site. Also, this model printer is not AirPrint compatible.

 

However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

 

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
