Brand new LaserJet Pro MFP 3301 Control Panel discusses "Future Firmware Updates" but NEXT button is dead.  The printer prints and the scanner scans but I can't use the Control Panel.  I have reset to factory settings several times and reconnected using HP Smart, etc.

Mac OS is Sonoma but I don't think that matters -- it is a printer problem.

Has anyone else had this problem ... and hopefully solved it.

Hi @GaryLong

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue with the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3301 Control Panel. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Update Firmware: If the control panel discusses "Future Firmware Updates," make sure the printer's firmware is up to date. You can typically find firmware updates on the HP support website. Use the HP Smart app or connect via USB to check for updates.

Check for Software Updates: Ensure that both the HP Smart app and your macOS are fully updated. Sometimes, incompatibilities arise from outdated software.

Reinstall Drivers: Uninstall the current printer drivers from your Mac and then reinstall them. Go to HP's website to download the latest drivers for your printer model compatible with macOS Sonoma.

Network Connection: If the printer is connected over Wi-Fi, try connecting it via USB temporarily to see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes network issues can cause problems with the control panel.

Reset Printing System: On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Right-click (or Control-click) in the list of printers and select “Reset printing system.” This will remove all printers and reset the system, so you'll need to add your printer again afterward.

Factory Reset Again: Since you've already done this, it may be worth trying one more time. Make sure to follow the exact steps in the user manual to ensure it's done correctly

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Connecting via USB did the trick.  Seems fine now.
