I'm trying to use laserJet m1212nf MFP as a printer on Mac 13.5 (Ventura) but the device is recognized only as a scanner and as a fax but not as a printer:

If your HP LaserJet m1212nf MFP is not being recognized as a printer on your Mac and is only showing up as a scanner and fax, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that your HP LaserJet m1212nf MFP is properly connected to your Mac via USB cable or network connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi). Check for any loose connections or cables.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your Mac and the HP LaserJet printer. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues.

Reset Printing System:

  • Resetting the printing system on your Mac can often fix printer detection issues:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left sidebar.
    • Choose Reset printing system and confirm your action.
    • Restart your Mac and then add your HP LaserJet printer again.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP LaserJet m1212nf MFP. Sometimes, macOS updates can disrupt printer functionality, so updating drivers can resolve compatibility issues.
