HP Deskjet 1110 printer
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Hi there,

I used my HP 1110 deskjet printer before without any problems, but it seems like the printer is unable to connect to my Mac OS 10.13.

I've tried all the instruction I could find online, but none of them seem to work. Cables seem fine as well and the printer can connect to the power. Also my USB port works.

Does anyone know what I could do?

Thanks in advance.

Emma

Hi @Emma91

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the connectivity issue.

To better assist you -

1.) Is there any antivirus software installed on your computer?

2.) Is there a USB hub connected?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps -

1.) Go to System Information to check the if the USB is detected or not -

a.) From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.
b.) Click System Report.
c.) Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB. USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus.

2.) Try a different port and cable if not detected.

Try updating your Mac using these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

Also, update the printer's firmware. Refer to this document for step by step instructions - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

It seems like my computer can't find the USB of the printer. The cable looks fine and my computer does find other USB cables..

Do you have any advise?

@Emma91

Have you tried a different cable to connect the printer or maybe tried connecting this printer to a different mac or PC?

Let me know.

I've tried another computer, which also did not work. I'll try with a different cable, but I need to buy one first..

Thanks for your fast reply!

Sure @Emma91

This will help us isolate if the problem is with the cable or with the printer.

Keep me posted.
