Mac OS Big Sur and OfficeJet 6500

Greetings!  I have a MacBook Air with OS Big Sur 11.2.2 running... the latest version I do believe.  Like others, I have gotten various warnings regarding malware associated with my printer so I went through the steps to remove the suspicious files and so on.  My printer is an HP OfficeJet 6500 (E709n) and I can't get it to work at all.  I installed HP Smart but that hasn't helped and the HP website states that there are no available drivers.  HP "Smart" cannot seem to locate my printer but my Phone was able to with the HP Smart app.  I also tried to use Air Print with no success.  Can anyone help?  Very frustrating for sure!!!

@Zenyatta, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

HP Officejet 6500 E709n is not AirPrint compatible and has no printer driver available on the HP Support site to work on macOS 11.2

This printer supports HP Smart on iOS devices, but the HP Smart app is not available for macOS.

Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.

Thanks for trying but gutenprint can’t help me either. The OfficeJet 6500 (E709n) seems to be shunned.   I have a  giant useless paperweight now and as such, I also have a bad taste regarding HP products.

I understand. However, there are no other options available due to the age of the printer. I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
