Hi Tom,

First, please make sure your operating system is fully up to date with any of its latest updates:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201541

Next, launch HP Easy Start below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

As soon as it launches, immediately launch the HP Uninstaller from the top HP Easy Start menu and complete its removal as listed under 'Uninstall with HP Easy Start; below, then press Set Up New Device to reinstall the printer:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02440673

If it still cannot find your printer, how is the printer connected to your Mac? is it a USB, wired, or a wireless network connection?

@ShlomiL -  I'm having the same problem with the same printer and followed the same instructions. But when I use Easy Start to find the new software (have uninstalled the old), it can't find any software for this printer. I have the latest OS already updated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi,

Please install below drivers from Apple:

https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US

Once completing the installation open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and press the plus sign.

Select your printer and then select your printer model within the Use drop-down menu and press Add.

Are you able to print then?

Yes! That works. Thanks a ton.

This worked for me too.  However, when the uninstall was done it also removed the HP app which you were able to look at printer status etc.  I am in the hunt for that app too.  Can you assist on location?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi @TDM56,

Do you refer to the HP Utility application?

It can be accessed from System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.

Double-click the printer and select Printer Settings, then open the Utility tab and click on Open HP Utility.

You may right-click the HP Utility icon on your dock, then select to Keep in Dock, so it can be easily accessed from the dock.

There use to be a standalone HP utility app.  Does this no longer exist and have to use the System Preference?  I don't like that.

Oh well.

Thanks,

Tom
