My HP Office Jet 200 Mobile Printer will not connect to my Lenovo i5 Chromebook due to an expired SSL. I have tried many procedures to make the connection, including turning off the printer, uninstalling the printer software, etc. How to I update the SSL number?

Hi @WAM11 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer not connecting to your Lenovo Chromebook due to an expired SSL certificate is likely due to outdated firmware on the printer or incompatibilities between Chrome OS and the SSL protocol used by the printer.
To resolve this, follow these steps:
1. Update Printer Firmware
Ensure that your HP OfficeJet 200 has the latest firmware, as updating the firmware can resolve issues related to expired SSL certificates. Here's how:
Option A: Update via USB (if no WiFi available)
- Download the latest firmware for your printer from the HP support website.
- Connect your printer to a Windows or macOS computer using a USB cable.
- Run the firmware update tool from the downloaded file.
Option B: Update via HP Smart App (if WiFi available)
- Connect the printer to a WiFi network using a Windows, macOS, or mobile device.
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
- In the app, select your printer, then go to “Printer Settings.”
- Check for available firmware updates and install them.
2. Check Printer Security Settings
The SSL error might be related to strict security settings. Ensure that your printer's security settings are configured to allow connections from Chrome OS. You can adjust the settings by accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) via its IP address from a browser:
- Access the EWS by entering the printer's IP in your web browser.
- Navigate to Network > Advanced Settings or Security and check if SSL settings can be updated or adjusted.
3. Power Cycle and Reset Network Settings
- Power Cycle: Turn off both the printer and Chromebook, unplug them for 2-3 minutes, then turn them back on.
- Reset Network Settings: On your printer, navigate to Settings > Restore Network Settings to clear any incorrect network configurations.

I have tried all of your suggestions. I cannot connect my Lenovo i5 Plus Chromebook to the HP Office Jet 200 Mobile Printer. When I click on PRINT I get the warning "Unable to print the SSL certificate is out of date". How can I change the date of the SSL? My previous Chromebook, the Acer 713, had no trouble connecting with the Office Jet 200. The printer's firmware is up to date. I have spent 4 hours trying to correct this problem. Help, please.
