My HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer has stopped recognizing any color. It will not print, copy or scan

I have remove and reinstalled the printer, downloaded firmware, and tried shutting everything down and restarting. For some reason the printer has lost all ability to handle color. It will not even copy color, which is offline from the PC. I need color to perform my work.

@OscarCAT, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

If you are not able to copy in color, it means this is a hardware issue either with the color ink cartridges or the printhead of the printer. Let us try these steps:

Check the estimated ink levels and replace any low or empty ink cartridges.

Clean the printhead

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .

  2. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

  3. Touch Clean Printhead, and then touch Continue.

  4. If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. Repeat these steps for the third cleaning stage, if necessary.
note: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page, and then evaluate the results.

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, touch the Setup icon , swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.

  3. Check for color.

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
