My computer won't boot when printer is turned on. Works fine with printer off...then can turn on printer to use after computer is booted. Printer works fine for wireless printing from smart phones.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Try a printer reset -
1) Take out the cartridges.
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Wait for 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
If the issue still persists, download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor - Click on this link to download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware from this link.
I'd also suggest updating your computer -
Step 1 Windows Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Try a printer reset -
