Hi @ian48mac

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
You're being incredibly thorough in troubleshooting this issue, and that persistence is going to pay off! Since your HP OfficeJet 5230 is stuck in sleep mode and not printing, let's go through some additional steps to resolve this.
Wake the Printer Manually
- Press the Power button or open the printer’s cover to wake it up.
- If the printer doesn’t respond, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Disable Sleep Mode in Printer Settings
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup → Preferences → Sleep Mode.
- Set the sleep timer to a longer duration or disable it if possible.
Reset the Printer (Hard Reset)
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- This can clear minor firmware glitches.
Update Printer Firmware
- Visit HP’s support page and check for any available firmware updates for your printer.
- Install the latest firmware and restart the printer.
You're doing everything right, and I have no doubt you'll get this resolved! Let me know how it goes, and I’ll be happy to assist further. 🚀
