HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer

My printer was giving an odd error about not downloading the latest software update. I unplugged it, waited a minute, and then plugged it back in. Now it starts the bootup process. It arrives at a screen where it says: "The most current updates have already been installed. No new updates are available at this time." It has an OK button.

I click the OK button, and starts the bootup cycle again. And again, it arrives on that same message about "The most current updates have already been installed...". It won't exit this loop.

The printer is offline for usage while stuck in this loop.

Hi @bhc333,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to resolve the bootup loop issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e, you can try the following steps:

1. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back into a direct wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or power strips).
  • Turn the printer on and see if it completes the startup without going into the loop.

2. Update via USB Drive: Update the firmware on an HP printer

Since the issue seems related to a software update, you can try manually installing a firmware update using a USB flash drive.

  • Download the latest firmware for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e from the HP support site.
  • Copy the firmware file to a USB drive.
  • Turn off the printer and plug the USB drive into the USB port on the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on. It may detect the firmware on the drive and prompt you to install it.

3. Enter Service or Recovery Mode:

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you can attempt to put the printer into Recovery Mode or Service Mode and reinstall the firmware.

  • Recovery Mode:
    1. Power off the printer.
    2. Press and hold the Cancel and Return buttons.
    3. While holding the buttons, turn the printer back on.
    4. If the printer enters Recovery Mode, try reinstalling the firmware from a USB flash drive or via HP’s official tools.
  • Service Mode: This mode allows more advanced troubleshooting, but it may require HP support. If the recovery steps don't work, contact HP support for guidance on entering Service Mode and resolving firmware issues.

4. Factory Reset:

  • If the bootup loop persists, consider performing a factory reset. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings.
  • You may need to access the hidden service menu to perform this:
    • Power off the printer.
    • Press and hold the Back and Home buttons (if available on your model).
    • Turn the printer back on while holding these buttons until you see the reset menu.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for helping Gaya. I've run through the suggestions, but nothing has changed. I'm including a picture of the screen I see.

HP OfficeJet 9025e error.jpeg

1. Hard reset. I've done this a few times, including unplugging it overnight. Same looping behavior occurs though.

2. Firmware via USB drive. I downloaded the latest firmware to a USB drive, and plugged it in. But the printer didn't acknowledge the USB, and continued the same loop behavior.

3. Service or recovery mode. Regarding the Cancel and Return buttons: I assume those would be on the printer screen? I cannot access anything on the screen, as it only shows the message that there are no further updates, with the OK button (which starts the loop over again when pressed). I did try holding the one physical button on the printer (power button). But that didn't do anything.

4. Factory reset. I think the Back and Home buttons are on the printer screen. However, as I say in #3 above, I cannot access that screen. The message about no further updates is all that displays, along with the OK button.

Are there other possibilities? I've loved this printer for always working, at least until this recent behavior. Is this error the result of a bad software push?
