Hi @JMT1940,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your Officejet 8100 Will Not Accept Z10 Ink. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

May I know if you have changed the region and are currently located in The USA? or printer was purchased from the USA?

Since when are you facing this issue?

Have you made any changes post that this issue was raised?

Do you see any lights blinking on the control panel of the printer?

Have you observed any error codes on the display?

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @JMT1940,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an  Officejet 8100 Will Not Accept Z10 Ink  HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • Was there any recent update on the printer prior to the issue?
  • Is the blue light solid on the printer?

While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove the USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

Don't you think that the printer is just set to a region other than the USA. From what I see on this forum, Z10 ink only works in USA region, and I believe my printer is set to another region, because it will not, and never has accepted Z10 labeled HP ink cartridges. The printer works perfectly as long as I DO NOT USE Z10 ink. As I said before, I have owned this printer since 2016 with NO problems other the Z10 issue.

How can we determine what region my printer is set to..

Thank you..
