@Rolf82, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here are some steps you can take to fix the issue where your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw keeps repeating an old print job and won’t print new ones on Windows 11:
1. Cancel All Print Jobs
- Press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
- Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
- In the print queue window, click Printer > Cancel All Documents.
2. Restart the Print Spooler Service
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and choose Restart.
- If it’s stuck, stop it, then go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in that folder (you may need admin rights), then start the service again.
3. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
4. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Go to HP official support page.
- Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 11.
- Alternatively, uninstall the printer from Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, then reinstall it.
5. Reset the Printer (Factory Reset)
If the issue persists:
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Service > Restore Defaults.
- This will reset the printer to factory settings (note: Wi-Fi and custom settings will be lost).
6. Check for Stuck Jobs in HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your PC or phone.
- Check the print queue and clear any stuck jobs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
