Hi @Daisy43,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4650 is no longer printing in color after a driver update, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Printer Settings

  • Go to the Control Panel or Settings on your computer.
  • Navigate to Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP OfficeJet 4650 and select Printing Preferences.
  • Check the Color tab and ensure that the option to print in color is selected (not grayscale or black and white).

Reset Printer

  • Power off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source for 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

There might be a compatibility issue with the updated driver. Try reinstalling it:

  • Go to Device Manager on your computer.
  • Expand the Printers section.
  • Right-click your printer and choose Uninstall.
  • After uninstalling, go to the HP Support website and download the latest driver for the OfficeJet 4650.
  • Install the driver and restart your computer.

Run Printer Troubleshooter

  • On Windows, you can run the built-in printer troubleshooter:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional Troubleshooters.
    • Select Printer and run the troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure that both the black and color cartridges have sufficient ink.
  • If one of the cartridges is empty, it may prevent color printing.

Test Printing from Another Application

  • Try printing a document from a different application (such as a photo or a Word document) to check if the issue is specific to one program.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
