My office jet 5740 printer says it is not connected to computer Mac macOS Sequoia it will print I can't scan anything to the computer ?

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet 5740 is not connected to macOS Sequoia. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this issue:
 

Update HP Software
 

Go to HP’s support page https://support.hp.com/us-en and download the latest drivers or the HP Easy Scan app for macOS Sequoia.

If HP Easy Scan isn’t available, use Apple’s built-in Image Capture app.


Try Image Capture (built-in on Mac)


Open Applications > Image Capture.

Select your HP Officejet 5740 from the left sidebar.

Try scanning directly — this bypasses HP’s software.


Check Connection


If connected via Wi-Fi, try USB temporarily to see if scanning works.

Re-add the printer: System Settings > Printers & Scanners > + > Add Printer. Make sure it shows both “Print” and “Scan” functions.


Reset Printing System (last resort)


Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Right-click in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.

Re-add the printer fresh.
