Hi @Kat10102,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When setting up a new HP printer, it's a good idea to remove the old printer from your system, especially if it was causing issues like indicating that the printer was busy. Here’s how you can do that:

1. Remove the Old Printer:

  • Windows:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    • Find the printer you want to remove, click on it, and then select Remove Device.
  • Mac:
    • Open System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners.
    • Highlight the printer you want to delete and press the - button to remove it.

2. Add the New Printer:

  • Windows:
    • Connect your new HP printer to the computer via USB or follow the wireless setup instructions provided by HP.
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    • Click Add a printer or scanner and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the new printer.
  • Mac:
    • Plug in your printer or set up its wireless connection.
    • Open System Preferences and click on Printers & Scanners.
    • Click on the + button and select your printer from the list to add it.

3. Install Latest Drivers and Software:

  • Visit the Official HP® Support to download the latest drivers and software for your specific printer model to ensure smooth operation and access to all the printer features.

These steps should help you transition smoothly from your old printer to the new one and resolve previous issues. Enjoy your new printer!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
