Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.  I just got an HP LaserJet Pro MFPM127fn as a used item and was able to use it on my laptop without issues (no software install needed).

When I connected it to my desktop and was detected right away, I was able to use it.  I then went ahead to install the firmware downloaded from the HP website named HP_M127_128_FW_Update_20201012 (from this link https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-mfp-m127-series/5396666/model/53034...) to the device and it was successful.  After the FW install though, my desktop now displays and error

The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it.

 Recommendation:  Try reconnecting the device.  If Windows still does not recognize it, your device may not be working properly.

I'd like to default the unit to factory settings and re-install everything.  Can I know the procedure to do so?  Need your support ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Nonoy

Unfortunately a factory reset does nothing to the firmware, it only resets use settings like network address, paper size and type and such. Have you tried a different port on your computer?

Hello Andr-1611.   Thank you for getting back to me.

The error message is

==================================================================================

The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it.

 Recommendation:  Try reconnecting the device.  If Windows still does not recognize it, your device may not be working properly.

==================================================================================

In the Device Manager display, there is an exclamation mark on the USB port which means the laptop and desktop is able to detect the connection, but it cannot read what type of equipment it is.

This is the reason why I want to default the printer to factory settings and re-do the firmware update once I am able to establish proper connection.

Yes, I tried 2 other laptops and still the same thing.  How would a firmware update from HP website make a printer unable to work when the installation was finished?

Hello Repairatrooper,

Does this mean my printer is now a big chunk of paperwieght?

Any chance you have tried to connect it to your network as you show the model number as an "N" device
