@JelenaK, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printing Issues with HP LaserJet 140w on Windows 11!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP LaserJet 140w printer prints one document and then stops, it could be due to a few reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure the printer is not in a paused, offline, or error state in the printer settings.
  • Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners" on your Windows 11 device, and make sure the printer is set as the default printer and is showing as "Ready" or "Online."

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support Website and ensure you have the latest drivers and firmware installed for your HP LaserJet 140w. Outdated drivers could cause printing issues.

Check Print Queue:

  • Clear any stuck print jobs from the print queue. Open "Devices and Printers," right-click on your printer, and select "See what's printing." Cancel any stuck jobs.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Power off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and turn it back on. Also, restart your Windows 11 computer.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 system is up to date. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" and check for updates.

Verify Connectivity:

  • If you are using a wireless connection, ensure the printer is properly connected to the network. Reconnect to the network if necessary.

Run Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Use the Windows built-in troubleshooter. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot" > "Additional troubleshooters," and select "Printer" to run the troubleshooter.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi, first thing first - thank you for your reply and help. I followed all steps, exactly as described, but the issue remains the same. This issue is driving me crazy 😞

@JelenaK, Thanks so much for trying all those steps — I know how frustrating it can be when your printer works just once and then stops. Let’s try to dig a little deeper to get this resolved for you.

Here are a few additional things we can check:

1. Print Spooler Service:
Sometimes the Print Spooler service crashes or stops after one job.

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

Find Print Spooler, right-click > Restart.

Right-click again > Properties, and set Startup type to Automatic if it isn't already.

2. Power Settings & USB Port (if using USB):

If the printer is connected via USB, try a different USB port.

Go to Device Manager > USB Controllers, and disable USB selective suspend in your power plan settings.

3. Printer Software Conflicts:

Are you using HP Smart, or did you install via Windows' default driver? Sometimes a mismatch causes issues.

To help us better, could you let us know:
👉 Is the printer connected via Wi-Fi or USB?
👉 Do you see any error lights/messages after the first print?
👉 Are you printing from Word, browser, PDF, or somewhere else?

Let’s get this sorted — we’re here with you every step of the way! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
