HP Officejet 5230

Hallo,

The printer seems to be stuck in some firmware download mode.

1. Printer boots directly in download mode

2. 100% downloads the file

3. Message: error downloading file (only option is to press OK)

4. Press OK --> go to step 2.

The printer is out of warranty but in all other perspective it is brand new. Nothing seems to help. HP print/scan doctor says: printer not connected etc etc. Any option or is it bricked?

@ApaX, welcome to HP Support Community!

Reset the printer

In some cases, a printer reset can clear the error message.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue still persists, try updating the printer firmware.

Refer to this document for assistance.

NOTE- Connect a USB Cable from the printer to your computer- download and install the update.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂

I have already tried this, it does not help.

"If the issue still persists, try updating the printer firmware."

Have you read the post? The only thing the printer does is this:

1. Printer boots directly in download mode

2. 100% downloads the file

3. Message: error downloading file (only option is to press OK)

4. Press OK --> go to step 2.

It is connected to the wifi because I can ping the ip-adress. The webserver seems to be working "nginx". However, the web interface of the printer is blank. Just a message the server is working.

"Welcome to nginx!

If you see this page, the nginx web server is successfully installed and working. Further configuration is required.

Commercial support is available at nginx.com.

Thank you for using nginx."
