Officejet 9015 and iMAC connectivity - or lack there of

Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have an iMAC late 2013 running OS Catalina.  I had an HP Envy printer that was showing its age so I upgraded to an HP OfficeJet 9015.  The OfficeJet and the iMAC do not connect well.  I can print because I'm using a printer cable but I can't scan or do anything else.  The iMAC can see the HP printer in wireless mode but when I try and connect to the printer in wireless mode the message I receive is that the connection was unsuccessful.  I can, however, connect my mobile devices through the HP app.

 

I suspect the main problem is that for some reason there are no OS printer drivers for the OfficeJet 9015.  Is this fixable or should I just buy a printer that works with an iMAC?
