Officejet Pro 6960 started erroring on printing two days ago and I can't fix it

HP Recommended
Officejet Pro 6960
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A couple of days ago my Officejet 6960, started to error on wireless printing - from my Windows 10 laptop.   It still prints fine from the other two Win 10 laptops in the house.  I have wasted the whole day reading suggestions on what is wrong and how to fix it and it is still not working.   I read numerous threads on here and followed them carefully.   My laptop is up to date; the printer is up to date; I have de-installed and re-installed several times.   I have run the Scan doctor - also several times.  I have acquired additional bits of software that I will never use - to allow me to print from Google Docs (for instance).

First question:   How do I find the error code for the error I am getting?   Surely it must exist and it might give a real clue as to what is going wrong.

Second question:   (which may be easier to answer with the error code)  how can the problem be fixed?

Hi@JDF2021, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try these steps to re-install the printer driver -

1. In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".

2. Look for HP Printer software.

3. Right-click to uninstall.

4. In the search box, type, and open “Devices and Printers”.

5. In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.

6. Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7. Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).

8. Click on the "Drivers" tab.

9. Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.

10. Select Ok.

11. Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.

12. Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.

13. Restart the computer.

14. Download and install the software and drivers from here.

15. Click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
