Officejet Pro 8600 Plus
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I recently downloaded and installed the new Mac OS 10.14.  When I tried to scan a document, it would not work.  I tried to download new drivers from HP and got the message that there were no drivers for 10.14.  Which is very disappointing.  It looks like I will have install the previous Mac OS to get the printer to work, unless there is another fix.

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

As per this document, there are no macOS 10.14 compatible driver available for Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer. However, we can try adding an alternate printer driver. Let's try these steps:

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list. If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use: drop-down menu and choose "Select Software..." from the drop-down list. The Printer Software list will appear.

6.) Scroll through the list of available printer drivers select HP Officejet 8610 and click OK. click the Add button.

7.) Try to print.

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the HP Officejet 8610 listed. In the Printer Software box I scrolled down through all the brands until I got to HP. I scrolled up and down the HP Officejet listings and couldn't find 8610. I did find HP Officejet Pro K8600 Series, but, of course, that's not what you recommended. Please advise. Thanks, again.

Itried all of the above but nothing works. After selecting the printer, I send a job to the printer and instantly the connection to the printer disconnects. Tried both HP drivers and AirPrint with the same results. Same thing happens with any program i have that tries to print. Using mac OS 10.14.2.

I tried this solution but it still does not work.  When I select Add & Verify, it concludes unsuccessfully ("cannot configure the device software").  I've tried this numerous times.
