HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium printer. I just updated my MacBook Pro macOS Big Sur (Version 11.2.3) software, and now my printer won't work. The scanner works great, but when I try to print anything, I keep getting this message "Printing - Waiting for printer to become available." The HP printer drivers for this macOS update aren't available. Not sure what to do. I have no problem using this printer on my Windows-based ThinkPad and I have no problem using the Scanner on my MacBook Pro. It's only the Printing that won't work on my MacBook Pro. SO frustrated, as it worked yesterday before I did the software update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers many times. I've also unplugged the power and USB cords and then started over again. Nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign and then delete the printer.

Click the Plus sign and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint

Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Try to print.

I have a similar problem since updating to macOS Big Sur 11.2.2. My issue is two-fold.  First, I have to unplug and replug the printer everyday because it goes offline and cannot reconnect to wireless on its own.

Second, even when the printer is online, but the scanner cannot open up.  We just get an error message.

I have installed updated drivers, but that didn't help with either problem.
