My HP Envy 6155e is giving me the message that a problem has occurred with your HP account and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved. I had instant ink. I don’t want that anymore. My account is still good until the end of this month. Why can’t I print?

Hi @Jamie7773,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for sharing the details, and we’re sorry you’re experiencing this with your HP Envy 6155e. We understand how frustrating it is to see that message when your account is still active through the end of the month. Since you mentioned you had HP Instant Ink and do not wish to continue it, here’s what’s most likely happening:

Even if your service is active until the end of the billing cycle, the printer can temporarily stop printing if:

  • The subscription is in a cancelled/pending-cancel state
  • There is a billing authorization issue (even if the card hasn’t fully expired)
  • The printer has not synced properly with your HP account
  • The printer has gone offline and hasn’t revalidated the subscription

Here’s what you can do:

Step 1: Confirm Account Status

Please sign in at HP Instant Ink – Ink Monthly Subscription | HP Official Site and check:

  • Does it show “Active” or “Cancelled – service ends on [date]”?
  • Are there any billing alerts or action required notices?

If it shows cancelled but still within the month, the printer must stay online to continue printing until the official end date.

Step 2: Check Printer Connection

On the printer screen:

  • Go to Wireless settings
  • Confirm it shows connected to Wi-Fi

If unsure, restart:

  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Unplug it for 60 seconds
  3. Restart your router
  4. Turn the printer back on

This forces it to resync with HP servers.

Important Note About Cartridges

If you no longer want Instant Ink at all:

  • Instant Ink cartridges will stop working once the subscription fully ends.
  • To continue printing without Instant Ink, you will need to replace them with regular HP retail cartridges.

If you prefer to stop using the service immediately instead of waiting until month-end, installing standard HP cartridges will allow you to print without the subscription dependency.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
