I just downloaded and attempted to update HP Scan Doctor to the latest version and it fails to work...

The program launches and fails during its initial scan attempting to locate my printer.

The old version worked fine.

@Zach33,

Thank you for reaching HP Community. I would be happy to help!

Are you facing any issue with the printer?

Any particular reason to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor?

Can you please brief me on the issue?

Refer to the below link for HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows.

Hi Raj1788,

I received an email from HP letting me know that there was an update to HP's Scan Doctor software so I download it and attempted to install the latest and greatest.

It didn't install correctly so I deleted it and reinstalled the previous version.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit software so that may be the issue but on HP's download page it said that the software was compatible with Windows 7.

Anyway, I will check back to see if I have provided you with enough information.

Thanks for your reply!!!

@Zach33,

Thank you for the information.

Are you facing any issues with the printer?

Yes, the print and scan doctor is compatible with Windows 7. I recommend you try the below steps if the printer is not listed in the printer and scan doctor.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor is open, click Start, and then choose your printer.
    • If your printer is not listed, turn it on and click Retry.
    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in the tool.
  4. Depending on the problem, click either Fix Printing or Fix Scanning.
  5. Test results are displayed with icons:

     A checkmark means your printer passed.

     A wrench means a problem was found and fixed.

     An exclamation mark means a test failed and was skipped.

     An X means the printer has a problem. Follow the instructions to fix it.

  6. HP Print and Scan Doctor shortcut is installed on your desktop.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
