I have the same issue, HP Officejet Pro 6960, I have run the CD, I have run the online set up I have run the diagnostics every time and get the printer is setup and complete then go to close window and get the "Exit Device Service Setup", Are you sure you want to close this window?
If you exit, you can complete your setup later by saving this link
Copy Link to clipboard
Click Continue to continue or close to exit
This is the dumbest set up I have ever seen a closed loop, so you copy yhe link to get the message printer is setup, but guess what you try and print and the printer is not setup....
Seriously sort this nonsense out or the printer goes back, Do you not test your setup as its the first thing people do?

Hello,
I'd suggest you to do the following..
- Uninstall the existing printer software.
- Press Win+R to open RUN window. Type in %TEMP% and click on OK. Delete the TEMP folder content. Close the TEMP Folder.
- Press Win+R to open RUN windows. Type in PREFETCH click on OK. Click "Continue" and then delete the content PREFETCH folder content. Close the PREFETCH Folder.
- Restart the PC.
- Check for Windows Update , if found, install them and then restart the PC.
- You may use the URL to download the printer software and then install it. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers

Hi,
I am having the exact same problem as above:
I have run the online set up I have run the diagnostics every time and get the printer is setup and complete then go to close window and get the "Exit Device Service Setup", Are you sure you want to close this window?
If you exit, you can complete your setup later by saving this link
Copy Link to clipboard
Click Continue to continue or close to exit
but the driver is still showing as unavailable and software not complete setup.
I have tried this solution:

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Create a TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
This video resource will show you how to do it:

Hi,
The "HP895A70 (HP Officejet Pro 6960)" does not have a printer properties option when I right click. It has a "properties but not the option for ports.
The "Fax - HP Officejet pro 6960" does have a printer properties option when right click. I tried to follow the instructions but it did not discover the device.
?
