HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently purchased and replaced the 950 and 951 ink cartridges from Staples. I received a printer failure on my printer. My husband removed the ink cartridges and saw some yellow ink. We assumed the yellow cartridge was damaged and ordered a new yellow cartridge from HP. We have received that ink cartridge, but still receiving the same printer failure message. We have followed all instructions to turn off the printer, unplug it, and even attempted to contact customer service, but to no avail. Can anyone help?

Hi @keandraw,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Sorry to hear that you are facing this issue with the HP Officejet Pro 8625. The "Printer Failure" message you're seeing is often linked to an ink system failure, which can persist even after replacing cartridges, especially if there's been a leak or contamination.

Steps to Try:

  1. Ensure the Printer is Level:
    • Place a small round object (like a marble) on top of the printer.
    • If it rolls in any direction other than back left, adjust the printer's position until it's level.

  2. Perform a Hard Reset:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
    • Wait for 2–3 minutes.
    • Plug it back in and turn it on.

  3. Check for Ink Leaks or Residue:
    • Remove all cartridges and inspect the printhead area for any ink pooling or residue.
    • Gently clean the area with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.

  4. Replace All Cartridges (if possible):
    • If one cartridge leaked, others may also be affected.
    • Try replacing all four cartridges with genuine HP 950/951 cartridges.

  5. Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Find your printer’s IP address (from the control panel).
    • Enter it in a browser to open the EWS.
    • Check for any supply errors or alerts.
